BATTLE OF BRITAIN

will begin from London, or your agreed location of choice and then you will head to Uxbridge, Middlesex for your tour of one of the Battle of Britain Bunkers.

This bunker was used by Fighter Command No11 operations group throughout World War II and was the room from which most of the RAF side of the Battle of Britain was co-ordinated. Key decisions that would decide the fate of the nation were taken in that Battle of Britain bunker throughout 1940.

It was thanks to the tireless work of the RAF plotters and controllers that the RAF’s fighter pilots managed to keep the Luftwaffe at bay. You are able to relive this historical experience on your tour of the Battle of Britain bunkers.
The Operations Room which in reality is a series of rooms on two levels some 60 feet (18 metres) underground is reached via 76 steps. The plotting room with its large map table, squadron display boards, balloon and weather conditions, is exactly how it was when Winston Churchill visited on 15 September 1940.

BLETCHLEY PARK

your Battle of Britain bunker tour, we drive North from London to start our Bletchley Park tour which is a place of exceptional historical importance and was the home of the British Codebreakers during WWII.

Bletchley Park was first established with a secret team from MI6, the Government Code and Cypher School and a secret team of leading academics from British universities who turned code breakers.

Their initial overview was to see whether Bletchley Park would work as a war town location safe from the risk of bombings which would take place 50 miles away from London. In 1941, Prime Minister Winston Churchill stated “make sure they have all they want extreme priority and report to me as soon as this has been done”. From that moment Bletchley Park received a huge influx of resources and major building programmes were implemented for their ever increasing workforce The Governments Code and Cypher school devised methods to enable the allied forces to decipher the military codes and cypher that cracked German, Japanese and other access nations communications. This produced vital intelligence to support the Allied military operations on land, sea and in the air. Bletchley Park also heralded the birth of information technology with the code breaking processes enabled by machines such as the Turing/Welshmen, Bombe and the first electronic computer Colossus.
